Most people by now will be aware of coronavirus and the concern surrounding it. Coronavirus (and similar viruses) are distributed through coughing, sneezing, talking, and physical contact. What does this mean for your household? Should you be concerned about coronavirus on your carpets, hard floors and upholstery? We are all being advised to wash our hands more regularly and be more aware of cleanliness but it’s not as if you can cover your furniture and carpets and floors with soap, hand sanitizer or disinfectant. So how can you sanitize your home against any cold or flu virus?

The advice from the Government is if you are showing any symptoms of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is to self-isolate at home. But how do you know if your home is a safe environment for you and your family? Viruses can survive in your carpets and soft furnishings for up to 9 days and can easily be made airborne by simply just walking on the surface.
If you are looking to increase your normal cleaning routine and sanitize your home, don’t forget about your fine surfaces, such as upholstery, carpet, and rugs. These surfaces can often be overlooked but are probably one of the biggest surface areas in your home. Although we cannot claim to completely eliminate or stop the spread of the new strain of coronavirus (or any other virus for that matter), we can advise you that professional carpet cleaning creates an environment that is not hospitable for the incubation and lifespan of viruses. Professional carpet cleaning involves processes that viruses don't like. Sanitization, disinfecting, heat and steam are all known methods for helping prevent the spread of germs. If coronavirus proves to be like many other viruses tested in the past then professional cleaning will decrease the chances of coronavirus surviving on your interior textiles. Here at Xtraclean we are expertly trained and accredited by the NCCA (National Carpet Cleaners Association) to remove all bacteria from carpets and hard flooring areas. We have professional equipment that allows us to deep clean your carpets and apply anti-bacterial products to help prevent the spread of germs and viruses. It's easy to ensure that all bugs and bacteria are completely removed – including MRSA, by having regular antibacterial cleans.
